He has mediated a wide range of cases and has received very specialized training in negotiation and mediation. He is an adjunct professor at the University Detroit Mercy School of Law and was recognized by them in the Winter 2007 St. John's Law Review. He has trained attorneys, law students, accountants, social workers, labor union representatives, teachers, and parents in communication and conflict resolution techniques.

The Office of Dispute Resolution at the State Court Administrative Office pulled together a committee to address confidentiality issues in the Michigan Court Rules pertaining to mediation.
Matt Vititoe was appointed to serve as an representative and advisor to the committee on behalf of the approximately 20 centers for dispute resolution across the State of Michigan.
